At Environmental Recycling Systems we design, build and test solutions for the recycling of post-consumer waste. Finding ways to redirect materials from the waste stream is our prime objective. Diverting consumer-waste before it hits the landfills is our primary goal.

"People are often unaware of the psychological component of our design. The motor oil-recovery units ( OSF's) are symbolic reminders of our true situation, and of our own ability to take tangible, intelligent steps to improve matters!" William Davis, founder of ERS exclaims. "It's really an old-fashioned idea: there's native beauty in thrift. And if ever the virtues of personal constraint and economy needed to be applied, today would be that day". He learned this lifestyle from his parents, who were farmers and merchants. He never hesitates to advocate it.

"As the person gets into the habit of capturing the very last drop of oil from every last bottle, a real sense of personal stewardship is fostered in the person -- a sense of 'completion' -- a sense of being part of the cycle. As the principles of frugality and conservation begin to outshine modern-day waste-mentality and the cult of self-indulgence, a newly internalized, 'psycho-economic' stimulus is born, often at the subliminal level.

On the material level, recovery units benefit the environment and on the iconic / psychological level, Mr. Davis is quick to point out that, "once these models of principle consumption are made more visible, people are inclined to subconsciously acquiesce -- making for a type of internal, symbolic reminder of our own civic responsibility."

In terms of its psychological effect, the OSF is a symbol of wise and accountable living, This centers our attention on the fact that we are all intelligent enough to create our own stimulus packages".
